I Don't Like What It Does To Me (color)

With I Don't Like What It Does To Me, Bragolin continues to explore the darker side of post-punk and dark wave. Released in 2023, the album follows the debut I Saw Nothing Good So I Left and the collaboration with Adam Tristar, Let Out The Noise Inside. Once again, Bragolin creates a world filled with melancholy, tension, isolation, and nocturnal atmosphere. The album combines characteristic elements of dark wave, post-punk, cold wave, gothic rock, and electronic music, while maintaining the distinctive sound that has defined the project since its debut. At the heart of the record are deep vocals, atmospheric guitars, synthesizers, and mechanical drum-machine rhythms. The music often feels minimalistic, but there is always something happening beneath the surface. Repetitive rhythms create a hypnotic effect, while guitars and synthesizers add layers of darkness and space. The title I Don't Like What It Does To Me already suggests one of the central themes of the album: inner conflict and the feeling of being affected by something you cannot completely control. Throughout the record, attraction and rejection, closeness and isolation, movement and emotional paralysis seem to exist side by side. This tension is reflected in the music itself. Many of the songs are dark and melancholic, yet remain surprisingly catchy and danceable. Bragolin once again demonstrates one of dark wave's greatest strengths: transforming sadness, anxiety, and emotional distance into music that makes you want to move.
