Witch
HIGHLIGHTS A killer selection of songs from Zambia's legendary garage, psych, prog, funk & Afro-rock ensemble. Zamrock at its best on a double LP compilation released in collaboration with Now-Again Records. DESCRIPTION WITCH was a Zambian music rock (Zamrock) band formed in the 1970s. Widely seen as the most popular Zambian band of the 1970s, WITCH (an acronym for 'We Intend to Cause Havoc') were formed during Zambia's golden post-independence days, and were headed by Emanuel "Jagari" Chanda. Their unique blend of American and UK hard rock and psychedelia and native Zambian folk rhythms and melodies shines through in this compilation. In 1972, the band traveled to Kenya to record and press their debut LP, "Introduction," and carried the initial run of a few hundred vinyl copies back to Zambia in their suitcases. Released as the first commercially produced rock album in the country, it marked the start of the Zamrock movement. "Causing Havov" is a killer selection of songs from Zambia's legendary garage, psych, prog, funk & Afro-rock ensemble, from 1972-1977. Zamrock at its best on a double LP compilation released in collaboration with Now-Again Records.
