DEAD MEADOW - THE NOTHING THEY NEED
Dead Meadow are happy to announce they will be releasing a new album, The Nothing They Need (Xemu records), on March 2, 2018. Today they share the album's first single, "Keep Your Head" which perfectly exemplifies the band's unique marriage of Sabbath riffs, dreamy layers of guitar-fuzz bliss, and singer Jason Simon's melodic croon. In support of The Nothing They Need, Dead Meadow will be touring the US with dates kicking off March 2 and hits, among others, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago before concluding at Levitation in Austin, TX on April 26. With the release of The Nothing they Need, Dead Meadow's Steve Kille and Jason Simon celebrate twenty years of the band with eight songs that feature everyone that has been musically involved with the band over the years. They're joined by original drummer Mark Laughlin, Stephen McCarty ( the drummer throughout the Matador years), and current drummer Juan Londono. Cory Shane joins them on guitar for some Feathers era dual guitar interplay. The album was recorded in Dead Meadows' studio/rehearsal space, The Wiggle Room. |

Formed in Los Angeles in the year 5,772 when Jason started accumulating songs that he felt fell outside the realm of the riff and heavy fuzz of Dead Meadow, he decided to put together a new band that tell of a long lost America as en-visioned by Harry E. Smith in his anthology of haunting blue, backwards ballads and god-fearing gospel. Warbling guitars, electric organ, singing drums, blown out harmonica, and droning harmonium come together to create a sound residing somewhere between Dock Boggs, Dylan, The Band's Basement Tapes, and one of Fred Neil's raga-inspired improvisations as OLD TESTAMENT emerge from the eerie haze of a long-lost America, a land filled with droning backwards ballads and haunting blues. TOW, MATTHEW J - SHADOWS REIGN
Matthew J Tow is an Australian singer-songwriter merging out of the 90's indie rock/60's revival scene. He has been the front man and main songwriter of two previous bands, Drop City and The Lovetones which both have had an indie following abroad and a legendary following at home in OZ. In the aftermath of Drop City, Tow headed to the U.S where he got in touch with his old friend Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre. In a brief period in 2003 Matthew joined the BJM as a touring rhythm guitarist and collaborated with Newcombe, writing 2 songs for the ..And This Is Our Music album. During this time, Tow embraced the kaleidoscopic sounds and textures being explored by many bands in the psychedelic underground of the West Coast scene, and blended it with his own pop sensibility and created The Lovetones. Matt just released his beautiful follow-up to his first Xemu release with "Shadows' Reign". SNOWY DUNES - SNOWY DUNES
Snowy Dunes are a four piece psychedelic rock outfit hailing from Stockholm, Sweden. Even though created out of the love for vibes of old, Snowy Dunes is a unique blend of vintage hard rock, 60's psychedelia and the fuzz rock of today. A year after being founded, Snowy Dunes were invited to Los Angeles by Steve Kille (DEAD MEADOW) to record their debut album. Spending five days in a cabin in the desert around Joshua Tree, they laid down the groundwork for the album with Steve acting as both producer and as a sherpa to desert dwelling for the starry eyed Swedes. Used to a significantly colder climate, and by drawing their inspiration from the vast swedish wilderness, the laid back desert vibe and Steve's steady hand helped Snowy Dunes realize their jam based sound. Shortly after finalizing the album, Snowy Dunes were signed to the New York / Los Angeles based indie label Xemu Records, and started touring western Europe. TRACKLISTING: 01.
