This Canadian teenage group from small-town Ontario had their own mature sound predating punk and surpassing all older groups in the region. Recorded for a soundtrack at the Montreal National Film Board in 1976 and released in 1977, "Time" is a dynamic heavy rocker, whereas "Leaving This Crazy City" is a proto-punk surprise! Canadian punk rock anthems "Fuck You" and "Oh Canaduh" have been covered by so many bands that most people no longer know which group originally composed them. The Stiffs were a first wave Vancouver punk rock group with a short yet prolific existence that gave way to hardcore group Rabid and legendary punks the Subhumans. Many of the songs made famous by the Subhumans were first performed by The Stiffs. This EP features all three studio songs from The Stiffs unreleased single, three more from a rehearsal done at Chuck Biscuits house (DOA), and one from a demo recorded one prior to the studio session. With a sound not unlike CRUSHED BUTLER, they performed in full corpse-paint horror makeup a bit like black metal bands of today, but this was even before KISS issued their debut LP! "...a brooding bad-trip sounding proto-punker that bridges the gap between Sixties garage and psych." (RK / Terminal Boredom). Formed in 1976 in Victoria and later relocating to Vancouver, The Dishrags were the opening at Vancouver's first ever punk rock gig, and may very well be the first all women punk rock group in North America. They performed numerous times in Western Canada and the US, including gigs with The Clash and Ramones, and produced three sets of studio recordings. A new 12" vinyl LP of the original Dishrags power trio, entitled Three, features 14 previously unreleased live recordings, plus their first 3-song single, 2 songs recorded for Vancouver Complication, and 1 live bonus track from their 1997 CD. The LP comes packaged with a 16-page booklet that contains a detailed history and tons of photos! 550 copies, red vinyl.
