While Captain Sensible much later recorded a reworked solo rendition of Part 4, Part 3 has never seen the light of day until now. Many people have seriously doubted that they would ever hear the full and ultimate version of "Smash It Up" as originally intended by Captain Sensible: Smash It Up (Part 1) Smash It Up (Part 2) Smash It Up (Part 3) Smash It Up (Part 4) The wait is finally over!!! Culled from Captain Sensible's own original reel-to-reel 1979 demo tape, "Smash It Up" (Parts 1-4) has been carefully restored, and it is with great joy that we can finally unearth this long buried punk anthem.

It seems that no matter how you twist and turn it, Brian James will always be best remembered for the punk power chords he so inventively bashed out with the Damned when punk first exploded in the UK back in 1976. Brian is single-handedly responsible for writing "New Rose", today enjoying the status of being the first ever released punk record. Since '78, Brian James has performed with a string of other bands, released music with Tanz Der Youth, The Lords Of The New Church, and also found time to cut a solo album as well as a couple of solo singles. Brian James' attitude hasn't changed the slightest over the years, and he is not the kind of guy who would've hung up his guitar just because Guns n' Roses decided to cover his classic "New Rose". He's still going strong strong strong. James' latest project, The Dripping Lips, features Scottish-born/Belgium-living Robbie Kelman on vocals, Nico Mansy (ex-Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) on bass, and Paul Zahl (ex-Flamin' Groovies) on drums. The EP's first cut and title track, "Such A Lot Of Stars", is a beautiful and atmospheric, yet catchy song. Though "Such A Lot Of Stars", melodic as hell, still carries the signature Brian James edge, it's a bit of an unchartered territory for Brian, who gets to turn his guitar up louder on the B-side's first track, "Powerful", with its power chord grabbing you firmly by the throat from the very first rotation. It should be noted that the version of "Such A Lot Of Stars" appearing here is radically different, and much preferred by both Brian & Robbie, to the one previously released on the "Ready To Crack?" album. Alan Lee Shaw (ex-The Damned, ex-The Maniacs, ex-The Physicals, & ex-The Rings), who also worked with Brian on his solo album, plays bass on "Abracadabra".

Formed at the height of the London Punk explosion in 1977, The Rings original line-up consisted of Twink (ex-Pretty Things and ex-Pink Fairies) on vocals, Alan Lee Shaw on guitar, Rod Latter on drums and Dennis Stow on bass. Having hitched their Punk Rock/Garage sound onto the beast that was the Punk Rock phenomenon, The Rings recorded a seminal one-off 7 single on Chiswick Records, the much applauded "I Wanna Be Free" b/w "Automobile". Sadly, the band was short-lived and this single became all the world ever heard of The Rings. Until now. Celebrating the 40th year anniversary of the band's original single, this January 2017 10" release, eponymously titled "The Rings", features 6 tracks recorded on a Philips hand held microphone cassette recorder in May of 1977 at a rehearsal space in Saltram Crescent London W9 by Alan Lee Shaw, guitarist/songwriter of The Rings and exclusively owned by him, Copyright Control. 1977. None of these recordings have ever been released before. They serve as a very rare document to add to legacy of The Rings. Killer '77 Punk Sound, raw and chuck full ot tight frenetic energy. The spirited live delivery beautifully conveys the magi of 1977 Punk.

According to Martyn Bates himself, DANCE OF HOURS was conceived to be a third volume of LETTERS WRITTEN: "It' a work that's firmly in that kind of mould/that kind of strand of what I do. Originally released in 1982 in France on a limited edition audio cassette tape only, the old Tago Mago recordings have on "Home Produce: Country Bizarre" been infused with new life, new arrangements and with additional new material. Eyeless In Gaza have undertaken to fuse the Coxhill pieces with their own and on top of it add some new improvisations and tunes to exciting ends. Whereas the original Tago Mago tape was more of a divided piece of work with Coxhill on the one side and Eyeless in Gaza on the other, the result on "Country Bizarre: Home Produce" is a much improved flow and the album now appears as a whole. Martyn Bates and Pete Becker (Eyeless In Gaza) have thus very successfully produced an album that brings the more than 2 decades old Tago Mago material right up to the 21st century, but without the expense of losing any of the character of the original sounds.

Today a trio, Mischief in fact started out being just a duo, comprising the 2 ex-Damned members Alan Lee Shaw and Paul Gray. Back in 1995, guitarist Alan Lee Shaw left The Damned, who'd just released their 8th studio album "Not Of This Earth", co-written by Shaw. Meanwhile a copy of "Not Of This Earth" found its way to bass player extraordinaire Paul Gray (also ex-Damned). Suitably impressed, Gray soon hooked up with Shaw and the Mischief seed were sown. Before long the pair had established a friendship as well as a song-writing partnership. Songs were being churned out fast and furious, thus the next logical step was to form a band. Enter Jim Simpson on drums, whom Paul had known from him time in UFO, and Mischief were ready to rock.

After having released more than a dozen records in Europe, Sweden's top-drawer destructo-punks Sex Sex Sex finally make their US debut with the brand new "Like Crows On The Slaughterhouse Fence" album, released on NDN Records (NDN 32) February 13, 2002. Sex Sex Sex came together as a band in 1986 and released their debut single, "The Wrong End Of The Gun", in the following year. Some 16 years, several singles, albums and line-ups later, Sex Sex Sex have build up a huge cult following all over the world. The band's self-coined destructo punk genre could also be described along the lines of mean-horror-slut-punk-rock-and-roll. Live and on record, Sex Sex Sex kicks no-nonsense ass with absolutely nothing held back. The band's music is filled with lots of crunchy riffs married with vocals spit out as if they tasted like garbage. To further introduce Sex Sex Sex to an unsuspecting US audience, the 13 new tracks on "Like Crows On The Slaughterhouse Fence" are followed by no less than 10 bonus tracks taken from the group's past works. In the early 80's, Helen's proto-grrrrrl combo "The Greedy Girls" terrified punk gentlefolk and so impressed the then-nobody Liam Gallagher, now in Oasis, that he pretended for months to be a Mute rep before blowing his cover and absconding with a beloved demo, the fate to which may be explained by certain dubious samples (no, this is not a joke, just the plain truth). On her debut album, Helen Zachariah delivers a diversity of musical genres with a natural ease, fully demonstrating her incredible ability to capture any mood, be it melancholic or upbeat, only to set it free in an astonishing piece of music, always using her voice as the imperative instrument, ranging from beautiful and affectionate to harsh and critiquing.

Whereas her debut album, "Blow Them Away Into Nothingness", was recorded and produced in a highly experimental way with emphasis on effects and sampling as well as the use of session musicians, Helen Zachariah's new album, "Driving Through The Back Of My Mind", is more of a solid band effort. This second time around the songs are co-written by guitarist Paul Milton, who has been working in Helen's band for almost 2 years now. Matthew Dermody on bass has also been aboard for a couple of years. Thus Zico, as Helen's band is known, has been solidly playing and performing the songs on "Driving Through The Back Of My Mind" throughout the last 2 years. "Driving Through The Back Of My Mind" allows Helen to showcase her multifaceted talent while exploring new musical territories, and it ultimately proves Helen Zachariah's penchant for timeless and infectiously beautiful melodies. Deceptively simple on the surface, Helen's music is filled with multiple undercurrents and unspoken spiritual powers.
