Stephen Brodsky is best known as the vocalist and guitar player of Cave In. His debut album was released on Magic Bullet records in 1998 and marked the first of many solo projects to follow. Stylistically apart from Cave In, Brodsky's solo compositions sound like "audio diary entries" - both singular and immediate, emphasizing the spirit of a work in progress. Later he released four-Brodsky-related albums by the Hydra Head label. His new album here with Little Black Cloud is the sonic reaction to life in New York after calling Boston home for several years. Hit or Mystery is a lush, shimmering landscape, with swimming ambiences and haunting melodies! Definitely for fans of Cave In, Converge, Kid Kilowatt, Ringfiner, New Idea Society, The Holey Moleys. Comes on two-tone clear/black colored vinyl pressing of 500. Mixed by Phil Palazzolo (Okkervill River, Roky Erickson, Ted Leo, St. Vincent). These 5 songs were recorded in the winter of 2013 with J Robbins(Jawbox/Burning Airlines/Channels/Office of Future Plans) at his Baltimore, MD recording Studio Magpie Cage. From their beginning in 2011, Positive No has been Kenneth Close on guitar, Willis Thompson (Thao and the Get Down Stay Down) on drums, and Tracy Wilson (Dahlia Seed/Ringfinger) singing, however, James Menefee (FunSize/River City High/ Long Arms) joined them for the recording of this EP while they were still in the process of searching for a permanent bass player (filled by Josh Quarles - Jonathan Vasser and the Speckled Bird /The Low Branches). Hoboken, NJ based Dunebuggy were born in 1991 out of suburban boredom, the D.I.Y. aesthetic of skateboarding, and an obsessive appreciation for well-crafted pop tunes. Having met through skateboarding in high school, singer/guitarist Jon-Michael Procupio (Dahlia Seed), and drummer Keith Renna began to craft their own original tunes by taking cues from alternative bands like The Replacements and the Lemonheads. Dunebuggy's sound was punctuated by quirky phrasing, angular guitars, and imaginative lyrics. Tracy Wilson of Dahlia Seed lent her vocal and writing talents to the band's recordings on a number of occasions. During their 90's tenure before splitting up in 1996, Dunebuggy played live shows with Archers of Loaf, Blonde Redhead, Superdrag, Damon and Naomi, Apples in Stereo, Papas Fritas, Spectrum, and Air Miami. This posthumous vinyl release marks the first time many of these songs have ever been heard. Those that have been previously released feature alternate recordings or mixes and all the tracks have been freshly re-mastered. Comes on white vinyl in a very limited edition of 100 copies. The cover art features a vibrant graphic of a vintage guitar pedal designed by Jon-Michael Procopio.

Out of a shared love of both metal and abstract minimalist forms, GAUCHISTE are two parts electronic genius and one part grim reaper. The sum of those parts is a self-titled debut that fuse PENDERECKI to CELTIC FROST. This release has been mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Scorn, & Lotus Eaters). Gauchiste features Tannon Penland on guitar, who is also in the band Loincloth (Loincloth have a new release out 1/17/12 on Southern Lord). Comes in an ultra cool, high quality, matte paper sleeve that wraps around with the cover art featured. A special insert has been created to sit within the cover to complete the artwork on the backside, much like a puzzle piece. Comes complete with audophile 180 gram black vinyl.

The implosion of underground rock act (Young) Pioneers in spring of 9 left the group's main speechwriter, Stakolee, and his comrade, Martin Violence, without an aural outlet for their abrasive brand of political harangue. Before long, the two found themselves conspiring with Union drum corps Corporal Randolph Davis on a new platform designed to foment youth revolt. Named immediately preceding the events of November 30, 1999 in Seattle, the new group, dubbed Teargas Rock, sought to actively involve white mother country radicals in the escalating resistance to overdeveloped neoliberal capitalism. The resulting audio communique, advised and directed by Bryan Hoffa, connects the the bile of Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man" to the spleen of Conflict's The Ungovernable Force without missing a single frontline wire feed. While mixing during the infamous republican snowstorm disaster of January 2000 at an undisclosed basement safehouse, Teargas Rock narrowly escaped a "no-knock" raid on the session with the all too brief seven tracks presented here. Some 14 odd songs were discovered and confiscated by authorities when bassist M.Violence tried to pass through a random checkpoint with a false-bottom guitar case a few hours later on the outskirts of Petersburg, Virginia. Little Black Cloud Records has filed a Freedom of Information Act request regarding the whereabouts of these 'ghost tracks.' Due to this unfortunate chain of events, two session musicians, listed on the new record simply as "Big Phil" and "Jess," have endured more than a decade of constant surveillance and harassment by government intelligence agencies.

Positive No's debut full length release is entitled Glossa. Here guitars, bass, and drums burst like synchronized fireworks (think dynamic energy of the Chapel Hill guitar bands in the '90s - Archers of Loaf, Superchunk, and Polvo - while complex vocal melodies dart between the rawness of PJ Harvey and the twee charge of Amelia Fletcher from Heavenly. Lyrics are the fuel behind these moody pyrotechnics and for this reason the band has also created a 7" x 7" 26 page full color book. Band member and graphic designer Kenneth Close has produced a total of 12 unique art pieces partnered with the lyrics. In turn every song on Glossa has been treated like a short story worthy of its own book cover. For those who appreciate Factory Records or 4AD for their the album art as well as the music, this small book (that also comes with a digital download to the record) will speak volumes. The meticulous attention to detail in the music, the words, and the packaging is staggering.
