ALTERED BOYS - LEFT BEHIND
In the spring of 2013, New Jersey's Altered Boys quickly followed up their debut 7"s on Katorga Works and Deranged with a two-song cassette on NJ cassette label Bleeding Edges. It was limited to 250 copies and sold out quickly. But damn was this a good package: incredible artwork and two bona-fide ragers-- a mid paced stomper on side A and a fast thrasher on side B. It begged to be released on vinyl-- or at least we thought so. We're happy to give it the vinyl treatment with a one time pressing of 500 copies. If you're not already familiar with Altered Boys, they play a raw and vigorous style of hardcore that recalls the period of the early 2000's when the likes of Tear it Up and Shark Attack sped things up and reinjected a healthy dose of punk into your hardcore.

BATTLETORN - BURN FAST
Battletorn erupted onto the NYC music scene with a bash 'n crash hardcore sound and a take-no-prisoners attitude. Although they started as a guitar/ drums/ vocals 3 piece, and recently slimmed down to a two piece attack, they make the most of their minimalist line-up with a full on wall of noise sound. They've got a classic, ragged hardcore sound. Battletorn will bring their one-two punch of a live show anywhere-- hardcore shows, metal shows, rock shows, and even hipster-indie shows, leaving many an audience member with dropped jaws at the near riotous response they often get. This 7" follows up a recent LP on Troubleman Records.

NO PAROLE - NO PAROLE
The debut 7" by NJ band No Parole, featuring ex-members of Criminal Intent, Altered Boys, and others, for those of you paying attention. 4 songs of rough but tuneful oi!, with definite cues from some of the more bald-headed varieties of hardcore and punk. We're glad to see long-time tri-state area troublemaker Jesse Gasface fronting another band, and even happier to release the band's first outing on wax. Great stuff if you're into the newer bands like Crown Court or Rixe, as well as the classics.

PAGAN RITUALS - HALLOWED GROUND
Made up of ex-members of early 00's hardcore punk luminaries like Tear it Up, Dead Nation (three-quarters of P.R. played on the now-classic "Dead End" LP, for those who pay attention to these things), and Splitting Headache, Pagan Rituals dial up the reverb and feedback on their debut 7". The result is noisy and cavernous punk, drawing on the likes of Rudimentary Peni, Amebix, Rikk Agnew's guitar work in Christian Death, and Killing Joke.

PHANTOM LIMBS - RANDOM HYMNS
Limited, white vinyl pressing of this frenzied, now legendary caliope-punk band. Following two LPs on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records, the Limbs decided to call it a day with this record. Their unsettling ilk of carny death rock & punk draws comparisons to The Screamers and Christian Death or contemporaries like the Subtonix.

SIXTEENS - FENDI
Sixteens perform a serious dance floor exorcism. Treading the darker terrain of new wave, they blare out an art-damaged electro replete with minimalist beats and eerie analog synthesizers.

CHEAP TRAGEDIES - VOLUME 1: SOUVENIRS & EVIDENCE
Following hot on the heels of 7"s on Livewire Records and High Anxiety 416/ No Idea Records, Cheap Tragedies wastes no time in dropping an absolute rager of an LP. Comprised of some well-seasoned clevo vets, including a maniacal Tony Erba delivering his best vocal performance ever, they tear through 12 tracks of amped up, hardcore punk rock n roll on their debut Volume 1: Souvenirs and Evidence the way only Cleveland miscreants can. Recorded by Bill Korecky at Mars Studio (Face Value, Integrity, 9 Shocks Terror, Terror, etc), the sound is incendiary and justifies their reputation as "hardcore arena rock destroyers".

HOLY KISS - UNDER NOON OF NIGHT
The Holy Kiss return to Hungry Eye with their 3rd full length, and first one with the new line up. Matty is now freed from guitar for an even more unrestrained vocal delivery. Grimy post-punk that draws some older Australians (These Immortal Souls, Crime and the City Solution) as points of reference. Limited to 500 copies with a silk screened cover.

SAND IN THE FACE - MUSIC MADE TO RIOT: 1982 - 1983
This LP compiles the very earliest recordings of Montville, New Jersey's Sand in the Face. The demos, largely recorded at Boonton, NJ's Mix-o-Lydian Studios, features the band's pre-LP line-up, containing a young, pre-Chrome Crank Peter 'Aaron' Wegele on bass, who also contributes extensive liner notes for the record. Note that Mix-o-Lydian is the studio that gave us the Misfits' "Walk Among Us" not much earlier. Sand in the Face were one of the first wave of New Jersey's hardcore bands, and contemporaries with the likes of Adrenalin OD and Bedlam. Mike Judge, the singer of late-'80s New York hardcore band Judge, attended the same high school as members of Sand in the Face and credits them with inspiring him to start his own band. Musically, it's disaffected suburban teenage thrash of the best variety. If you're familiar with the likes of Buy Our Records or Mutha Records, you know the pedigree. Limited to a one-time pressing of 600 copies.

TOKEN ENTRY - FROM BENEATH THE STREETS
MATW is proud to reissue a record that needs no introduction. By the time Token Entry released "From Beneath the Streets" in 1987 on Kevin Seconds' Positive Force label, they were already one of NYHC's most beloved bands. Having existed in a slightly different incarnation as Gilligan's Revenge in the early half of the 1980's, Token Entry were comprised of scene vets from NY's hardcore-rich borough of Queens. One of the few NYHC bands of that era that managed to tour extensively, they were notorious for their high-energy shows and their lack of patience for tough-guy posturing. No account of late 80's, CBGB-matinee era NYHC is complete without this album. The present reissue makes From Beneath The Streets available on vinyl for the first time since the late 90's, complete with faithful reproductions of the original covers and inserts, as well as a digital download card.
