After the self release of their "Losing Everything" demo, Rhode Island's own Convulsions properly introduce themselves with their debut EP, "The Reapers Gift." The material displays an unwavering surge of angst bounded by blind rage. This treatment is split into four equal parts coursing with a seamless blend of chaotic "math" work, coin-dropping signature changes, and sundering pedal layers reminiscent to early Botch and Dillinger Escape Plan, yet coupled with a grittier, darker, rolling undertone not unlike the Melvins. This record comes with a hand silk-screened layout. With original block-print art from the band, hand stamped center labels, and a hand type-written insert.

Incorporating elements of 90's emo, and Explosions In the Sky-esque post rock, RESERVOIR delves into many genres, only to form an intransigent cohesion of melodies. Tracks like "Breathe Disaster" seem to adhere to the more post-rock side of things and showcase more of the ambiance on the record, while "Gardens" is the quiet cut on the record, featuring more of a Mineral vibe. Since the bands formation they have accumulated 3 other releases including "Into Endings", a split 7" with Bicycle Ride, and a 7 song EP entitled "I Heard You As I Walked Away". Reservoir's earlier stuff pays homage to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, and Small Brown Bike, but with their evolved sound they began to incorporate more raw and textured sounds taking nods from Codeine and Low.

Floating in the murky air between tragic and transcendent, Seattle, Washington's Where My Bones Rest Easy move along hallowed ground, paths worn into dirt by the emotive sojourns of bands like Thursday and The Smashing Pumpkins, all while crafting modern day love letters to shoegaze heroes of the past. Held within melodically abrasive confines, Exercises In Futility matches sadness with buzzing guitars, quiet introspection with bombastic ecstasy. Starting quietly, the plaintive, amelodic opening of footsteps and tuning gives way to 5 tracks of chilling, emotional, and compelling indie rock that touches on shoegaze and post-hardcore, as much Pity Sex as Bright Eyes. Dual, not dueling, male/female vocals weave through each track, tying them together, even as massive, fuzzy guitars threaten to drown them out.

Undeniably powerful and arguably their best foot forward in a catalog already packed with stellar efforts, this is Convuls (shortened by their original handle, Convulsions) fourth, and longest installment to date. Entitled "I'll Be Seeing You", Convul draws one into a whirlwind of euphoric consciousness, with stress-inducing ambiance and a crushing sense of depression. Displaying a cocktail of influences, this material has it all. Chaotic surges dive into long, ominous, southern-style doom. Coupled with multi-layered vocal entries and a barrage of lingering soundscapes, this masterpiece has been scored with the intention of being digested all in one sitting. Recorded in a live session at Machines With Magnets Studios (Daughters, Battles, Verse, etc). This first pressing is limited to 500 vinyl pieces with a full color packaging.
