present this monstrous sounding beast of an album. As the illegitimate
child of a night full of debauchery between Sleep, The Melvins, Melt
Banana, Harvey Milk, McLusky, Lightning Bolt and even Merzbow, the band
most certainly ticks all the right boxes. Be prepared for this tasty

Aderlating is slowly
but surely making a name for itself. Starting out as an outlet for
Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues/De Magia Veterum) to bring his unique dark
aurual vison to the live environment, together with Eric (Mowlawner),
Aderlating evolved into a solid recording/performing band.
After releasing various splits (Cdr, LP), ep's (Free downloads,
Cassettes) and two full lenghts (Cdr, Cd) Aderlating is now ready to
unleash new tidal waves of darkness with "Spear of Gold & Seraphim
Bone I", the first part of a diptych. (The second part is scheduled to
be released later this year).
Ranging from subtle ambient to noise-drenched slabs of black metal,
rumbling low-ends, screeching highs and driven industrial brutality,
Aderlating is captivating and disenchanting at the same time. The game
of attracting and repelling casts the audience under a dark spell. And
this metaphor really isn't far fetched. The whole atmosphere breathes a
hypnotic darkness, which has a distinct ritualistic feel to it.
It's surely no surprise this work is the follow-up of 2010's
"Devotional Hymns", as Aderlating's sounds seem to be vile ritual hymns
of pure darkness and horror. It purges all the filth, bleakness and
darkness of the world, and channels it into a mind numbing sonic abuse
the listener just can't get enough of. The word 'cathartic' never has
been more in its place...

ADORAN - ADORAN
The new project from
Aidan Baker (Nadja, Whisper Room, BBS, Caudal, ... ) and Dorian
Williamson (Northumbria, Holoscene). Spanning nearly an hour, the
tracks of this album explore Aidan's and Dorian's sludgy doom-side in a
whole different way: atmospheric as ever, yet heavily relying on
rhythmic patterns. Aidan's drums sound bone-crushing, and are really
the pulse of ADORAN's music. Straightforward drumming or playing around
with syncopations, it makes the odd sludgy sounds Dorian produces come
vibrantly alive. In light of these gentlemen's oeuvre, this albums
sounds both familiar and at the same time excitingly fresh. The album
is mastered by James Plotkin, which contributes tremendously to the
delicately brutal sounds of ADORAN. The music is full and heavy, but
rich in detail. An amazing job by Plotkin, that surely has done justice
to the aural experience Aidan and Dorian envisioned. If you're a fan of
either Aidan or Dorian, or you're a sludgy doom fan in general, we
couldn't recommend this one enough.

Alkerdeel are back
for their first full length since 2012's Morinde! It might seem a long
time, but the band has been working very hard. This resulted in a
couple of split albums that hinted at the direction they were headed,
but mostly they used the time to piece together the brand new album
Lede. The album is undeniably Alkerdeel: the muddy but yet surprisingly
well defined sound is ever present. The direction in which the music
evolves did change over time. The doomy sludge drone monster of before
made way for a more direct and head-on approach. These Belgians are not
beating around the bush this time: they will grab you, and drag you
along for a relentless journey through their murky uncompromising black
metal wasteland.
On the artwork of Jeroen Pede:
Immediately recognizable among all other releases on Consouling Sounds,
are those designed by Jeroen Pede for the band Alkerdeel. Jeroen (Gent,
Belgium), himself a band member of Alkerdeel, has held on to a
consistent imagery to develop the look of the band. Inspiration comes
from graphic imagery, both in a literal and figurative sense, as very
linear work of Beardsley, Bosch, and other scatological pictures are
used as an inspiration. As such, Jeroen Pede has built up a world of
dark yet cheeky imagery engulfing Alkerdeel and adding strength to
their message.

matured and gained more depth. The lo-fi approach of the previous
albums made room for a more thoughtful recording process, making it
sound perhaps more accessible but also allows the sound to reveal all
its sluggish nuances. But rest assured, Alkerdeel remains Alkerdeel: a

In 2009, Amenra
released the beautiful and fragile EP Afterlife, meant as a musical
testament for future generations. The acoustic tracks that made up this
EP showed a very different aspect of Amenra, but also proved that in

The Archives
collection is a look into Atrium Carceri's archived audio files from
the last 10 years. This album was created using audio recorded during
2005-2015 and consists of B-sides, forgotten tapes, tracks that for one
reason or the other did not make it onto one of the Atrium Carceri
albums, or tracks that were in circulation but needed a remaster. All
material has since been re-edited , reworked, remastered and merged
into two seamless tracks. The Scandinavian recordings of cold meets the
post apocalyptic undertones of America as it was worked on in Oregon,
USA out of the Cryo Chamber Studio, with audio recorded in Sweden.

A five man project
Azure Mortal of Belgian Dirk Swartenbroekx (Buscemi, Squadra Bossa,
Radical Slave) is producing avant-garde electronic audio-experiments
and writing low frequency music for live performance, art

good description for the Azure Mortal sound. Nurse With Wound,

B/CHVE/SYNDROME - REWORKS
CHVE
Colin H. Van Eeckhout is best known when he is surrounded by kindred
spirits, but with CHVE he steps into the limelight all on his own. He
crafted his music and transformed it into a unique entity. CHVE solely
makes use of a hurdy gurdy and his voice as instruments to dig deep
within his own self. Just a man, his thoughts, scars and memories, with
his voice and his instrument.
SYNDROME
Several years ago a primitive form of Syndrome was brought to life as a
vehicle for the solo output of Mathieu Vandekerckhove, mostly known for
his work with Amenra, Kingdom, Sembler Deah,... For years the
self-thought musician learned and studied his craft of songwriting and
soundscaping, mainly as a means to self-exploration, meditation and
attempts at channelling negative into positive energy.
B - "1 MAN vs 4 MACHINES"
B is the live Techno project from Bert Libeert. Armed with just two
synths and two drum machines B is bringing the rawness and spontaneity
of live music back to clubs. His signature sound is an uncompromising
mix of hard edged EBM and Old School Techno that still sounds as
exciting today as when it first kicked off a musical revolution in the
1980s.
THE COLLABORATION
They knew each other from back in school and are from the same region
in Belgium, but it was the music that finally brought them together.
Their collaboration started when B was inspired by the the track "Rasa"
by CHVE and "Forever and a day" by syndrome. When Bert heard their
intoxicating sounds he immediate was triggered do something with it.
Despite the differences between the different artists, they have lots
of similarities when it comes to energy, emotions and character. This
is why the meditative vibes of CHVE and SYNDROME blend in perfectly
with the dark basslines and low pitched beats from B.

BAKER, AIDAN - LOST IN THE RAT MAZE
With Lost in the Rat Maze Aidan Baker (als know from the drone project
Nadja) produces an unconventional album - even to Baker-standards.
Having been known for his extensive ambient soundscapes, Baker chose a
different approach to his sound weaving - albeit true to the
"Bakersound". In stead of a densely layered and broad sound palette,
Baker has almost embraced a "postrockish" method of composing. More
compact, pointed and clear progressions can be discovered, together
with a diverse array of instruments, sounds and techniques. Expect the
classic Aidan Baker elements: captivating, fascinating and repetitive
mesmerizing sounds - but with a different twist to it.

BAKER, AIDAN - THERE/NOT THERE
"There / Not There"
will be released through Consouling Sounds on the 2nd of October. It
combines Baker's interest in minimalistic post-rock and textured
ambient noise, the ongs' themselves on this album numbering among the
first Baker wrote at the beginning of his career but as yet never
properly recorded. Rather than recording all parts himself, as Baker
has done with previous albums, and in an effort to give the album more
of a band sound and feel, he invited drum and bass contributions
respectively from Fiona McKenzie (also of Halma) and Dana Schechter
(also of Insect Ark, Bee And Flower, Angels of Light, Swans).
Although recording of the tracks began in 2019, given the circumstances
of the 2020 pandemic the album was completed via file-sharing and not
in person, the tracks assembled and mixed at Baker's Broken Spine
Studios in Berlin, Germany. Simon Scott, drummer in Slowdive and also a
contributor to Baker's 2012 album "The Spectrum of Distraction"
(Robotic Empire), mastered the album.

The Hypnodrone
Ensemble is a new project conceived by Aidan Baker (Nadja, Caudal,
B/B/S) & Eric Quach aka thisquietarmy (Parallel Lines,
Destroyalldreamers, Mains de Givre) as part of an exclusive performance
during thisquietarmy's Europe tour in the spring of 2014. In the last
10 years, the two prolific guitarists have collaborated on several
releases, toured together and shared stages numerous times in North
America & Europe. The idea was to present a collaborative,
semi-improvisational piece exploring atmospheric guitar drones and
propulsive polyrhythms, joined by Berlin-based drummers Felipe Salazar
(Caudal, Muerte en Pereira), Jrmie Mortier (Alice In The Cities), and
David Dunnett (Man Meets Bear). The performance was recorded live in
front of a captivated audience at NK - an artist residence and sound
arts organisation in Berlin-Neukoeln to be released as their debut
album. They will perform again at Incubate Festival 2014 in Tilburg as
part of Aidan Baker's residency.

BAKER, AIDAN/THOMAS JARMIR - WERL
Aidan Baker (Nadja,
Caudal, Hypnodrone Ensemble, .) and Tomas Jarmyr (Zu, Barchan, Yodok,
YODOK III, .) are both very active and prolific artists with a shared
vision on sound sculpting and free improv. It seems like a miracle they
found the time to record together, but somehow they did. And, they made
it count! The result of their recording sessions, "Werl", is a trip
that lasts longer than an hour and a half. This seems a bit much, but
it truly isnt. The album constantly evolves and grows and demands your
attention. The album twists and turns from psychedelica, krautrock,
space rock to ambient, noise and doom. "Werl" is a unique and
remarkable album. Consouling Sounds is tremendously honored to release
this extraordinary album as a double CD set. The music has been
mastered by James Plotkin and the packaging comes with artwork by the
Belgian artist Kato Six.

After having
released the critically acclaimed three-way collab album with Treha
Sektori and RM74, numerous cassettes, and a whole lot of live shows,
BARST is finally ready to present his full length debut album "The
Western Lands". This is an obvious reference to William S. Burroughs.
The fragmented, the transcendental and the viscerally unsettling of his
work was taken as an inspiration point to build up the massive effort
that is BARSTs debut full length. Moreover, the cut-up technique of
Burroughs earlier work, where layer upon layer is fitted to build up a
work of art, is exactly BARSTs modus operandi too. Cutting up sounds,
and layering them from very subtle to incredibly huge is in BARSTs DNA.
To reach the massive sound achieved on the "The Western Lands", he had
the help of an amazing riches of musicians like Mike Armine (Rosetta),
Dehn Sora (Treha Sektori, Sembler Deah, .), Karen Willems (Inwolves),
Mathieu Mathlovsky(Mathlovsky), Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe (Empusae, Onus,
.), An-Sofie De Meyer (FAR), Tokyo Oyo and Herr Man. The album is one
epic trip, encompassing ambient, drone, metal, shoegaze and
electronica. "The Western Lands" captures a multitude of musical
universes, and blends them seamlessly together in one of the most
complete albums we have ever heard. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Tim

At the end of 2015,
CHVE made quite an impression with his debut solo full album "Rasa".
CHVE is best known for his work with Amenra, but the solo work took a
different turn both musically and stylistically. Instead of the brute
primal force and walls of sound, CHVE's solo work is very introspective
and intimistic, making use solely of his voice, a hurdy gurdy and the
bodhran. The approach might be very different, but the music is equally
devastating and brutally honest. "Rasa" was the studio incarnation of
CHVE, produced with the aid of Dehn Sora (Treha Sektori, Sembler Deah,
.), but during his many live shows, the music transformed organically
in a distinctly different way. To document the transformation from the
studio to a live solo CHVE performance, this beautiful new live record
is presented. The album captures the music in a truly unique way: it
was recorded by one man in one take in an old tram, amidst the busy
Saturday city life of Ghent, and was immediately cut to vinyl
afterwards. These recordings have been mixed by Aaron Harris (ISIS,
Palms, Deftones, Tool, etc.) and have been mastered by Frederik Dejongh
at Jerboa Mastering (CHVE, TBHR, Syndrome, etc.) to ensure the most
perfect listening experience of this live rendition of "Rasa",
augmented with a unique interpretation of Nicos Le Petit Chevalier. For
the artwork, CHVE and Tine Guns collaborated in a unique way with
visuals of Guns playing a part in the packaging of the album and the
music of the CHVE live album playing a part in Guns new film "To Each
His Own Mask". Furthermore, Aline Gorsen created relics of CHVEs own
flesh, which are also featured in the artwork.

Colin H. Van
Eeckhout is best known when he is surrounded by kindred spirits, but
now he steps into the limelight all on his own. This first solo album
was preluded by a split 7" he released together with Nate Hall. In the
meantime however, CHVE crafted his music and transformed it into a
whole unique entity. In stead of the folkish singer/songwriter track he
premiered back in 2012/2015, CHVE now solely makes use of a hurdy gurdy
and his voice as instruments to dig deep within his own self. This is
CHVE on his most vulnerable. Just a man, his thoughts, scars and
memories, with his voice and his instrument. The album is magnificently
produced by Dehn Sora (Treha Sektori, Sembler Deah), and brings long
soundscapes capturing in ambient and droning sounds what lies beyond
what can be grasped by words. CHVE started to build his album out of an
empty void. He built layer upon layer, and rebuilt and reconstructed to
complete his universe called RASA. The album ended up somewhere between
folk, drone and ritual. But above all, the album is a conquest, a
meditation and it offers an inward journey, between grief and tears.

Empusae has been

Ggu:ll is a
four-piece blackened doom metal band from Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Since 2009, they have meandered a stoic path through the pitch black

For their new record 'Ex Est', Ggu:ll extracted the coldness of black
metal and added that into the mix doom and noise. In seven tracks, they
present a wide spectrum of heavy music. Shifting from blackened doom,
to heavy psychedelica back to noise infused torture drones.

Hedonist, a hard

IIVII - COLONY
IIVII is the new
solo project fabricated by visual artist, multi-instrumentalist and
composer, Josh Graham. A founding member of Red Sparowes and Battle Of
Mice, Graham currently plays in A Storm Of Light, and has made
appearances with Jarboe, Blood And Time, Tombs, Syndrome, Fallen Black
Deer, and Tribes Of Neurot.
With IIVII, Graham focuses on sonically engulfing and moody
soundscapes, layered with a science-fiction edge. This approach has
allowed Graham to expand upon his sonic body of work and traverse new
electronic territory, focusing on the subtle orchestration and
manipulation of dense sonic atmospheres, rather than the bombastic
approach found in A Storm Of Light.
Depicting a derelict space colony in view of Saturn, the artwork was
also completed by Graham, who currently serves as art director to
Soundgarden, and has also worked with many bands including Neurosis,
Jesu, Shrinebuilder, Sleep, Vattnet Viskar, and Isis.

IIVII - INVASION
With his 2015 album
"Colony", Josh Graham (A Storm of Light, ex-Neurosis, ex-Red Sparowes,
ex-Battle of Mice...) coined the genre "Ambient Fiction" for his
musical project IIVII. This moniker couldnt be more apt, as Graham is
exploring the boundaries between ambient music and science fiction
themes. IIVIIs music is difficult to pigeonhole: making use of analogue
synths and tape loops, the music refers to eighties film music on the
one hand, a nod to the Berlin school ambient on the other hand, but
nonetheless sounding refreshingly contemporary. The modus operandi of
layering droning sounds and crafting eerie soundscapes is forwarded to
his new album "Invasion", but Graham expanded on the IIVII sound with
more percussive elements, giving the music an extra drive and ominous
urgency. As usual, the visual side of the album is absolutely stunning,
hinting at the great invasion movies that make up the collective
memory. We cant wait to see "Invasion" come to life live, with Grahams

Dana Schechter has
worked as a collaborator for studio / stage with Swans, Angels Of
Light, Zeal & Ardor, Arabrot, Wrekmeister Harmonies, Gnaw, Bee and
Flower, and Gifthorse. Starting in the spring of 2020, she will be
joining Swans as a primary touring member of the band.
When Dana Schechter started Insect Ark as her "true" solo project in
2012, she set out to build desolate and hallucinogenic galaxies of
sound entirely on her own. Writing and playing solo offered an escape
into the deepest realms of self-reflection, dredging and birthing a
hitherto sonic beast that was, it turns out, utterly unhinged and
totally liberating. Focusing on experimental, drone, noise, and
avant-garde noise, Insect Ark's first years produced records that were
raw, ominous, and totally unique. While defying comparison, these new
sounds possessed Schechter's distinct musical spirit, woven throughout
her 20+ years of band/collaboration work.
Now, after 9 years of existence, Insect Ark has come full circle to
once again embrace solo work on 2021's Future Fossils.

The World of Skin
was a project springing out of the American group Swans, which was a
collaboration between the core Swans members Michael Gira and Jarboe.
The project was initially called Skin, with the first two albums being
released under that name, the last one being released under the name
the World of Skin.
Blood, Women, Roses (1987) was the project's first release and featured
vocals entirely by Jarboe, who had previously mainly been performing
backing vocals. Many of the tracks on this album were covers of show
tunes and other popular songs (for example "Cry Me a River" and "The
Man I Love").
This classic release was made available again in Europe for Record
Store Day 2022, now available in the States.

On BIGOD, Minsk
(USA) and Zatokrev (CH/EU) deliver a joint effort, a deliberative and
collaborative intention to reflect their innermost expressions, another
search for deeper meaning in the here and now through beautiful
psychedelic melancholy paired with the heaviest walls of sound and
creative destructiveness. Their shared passion and aesthetics gave rise
to the idea for the split album BIGOD. The work creates a new spirit,
one who unites two dark souls and joins two paths into one. Here, both
bands contribute two epic songs, both receiving vocal support from the
other.
To complete the work, Parisian artist, Max Loriot, has created an
extraordinary visual realization of BIGOD's theme, a compelling and

quite some time now. In honour for its 10-year anniversary, we are now
re-releasing the album again. Expanded once more, with an

instrumental acoustic post-rock project, the line up consists of

the problem of self. Six tracks explore different ways to live, or fail
to live, with self and world. They embody the struggles these paths and
strategies create: blindness, suffering, a desire for release, the
destruction of self and others as well as the turning towards -or
away from- life. Self as prison, self as a source of power, self as
vessel for manipulation by outside forces, self as
shield and as inner world, self as medium for Dionysian rapture, self
as something to be overcome. In the six songs that constitute Self, the
rage of black metal is paired with a cathartic destruction as well as a
contemplative, sometimes crawling melancholy. Instead of navel gazing
or the worship
of constructs, Self is analysis forced. A cerebral celebration of
liberation at all costs and a requiem for spheres rendered apart. The
artwork of Self depicts ants, consumed by cordyceps. These parasitic
fungi appropriate the brains of whichever host they infect, to
manipulate and effectively destroy its self-regulating features.
Through this annexation, the ants become empty shells of what they once
were, governed
by a destruction from within, imposed and irreconcilable.

Anthems for
Catharsis marks the follow up to thisquietarmys last full length studio
works "Rebirths", a representative collection of reworked tracks that
have defined his purgative live performances. Between back-to-back
tours in Europe & Asia and the release of live drone documents as
well as collaborative works with Noveller, Aidan Baker/Hypnodrone
Ensemble, Andr Foisy/Locrian, Syndrome/Amenra, thisquietarmys Eric
Quach went back to the drawing board in his Montreal studio, at the end
of 2014.
Within the repetitive genre of ambient and drone, thisquietarmy
constantly evolves and tries to incorporate new additional textures and
structures into the music - for instance, think of the kraut rock
shoegaze of "Resurgence", or the post rock doom of "Hex Mountains".
However, in other to start fresh and shed skin from exhaustive
influences, Quach strips his music down to the black bones. Anthems for
Catharsis sounds very focused but also very very dark, not unlike a
ritual cleansing or a detoxification. In dismantling his sound,
thisquietarmy almost struck a black metal vein, resulting in a dark and
brooding ice cold oozing of his signature drones.

THISQUIETARMY X AWAY - THE SINGULARITY: PHASE I & II
THISQUIETARMY X AWAY
is the collaborative sci-fi drone metal project by guitarist Eric Quach
(Thisquietarmy) and drummer Michel "Away" Langevin of Voïvod. The
unlikely duo crossed paths in their hometown of Montreal, when they
both performed with their respective solo projects at the Drone
Activity In Progress event curated by Red
Bull Music Academy in 2016 and as part of the Suoni Per Il Popolo
festival in 2018. Following an impromptu live collaboration during the
latter, they planned a recording session out of their busy touring
schedule in the winter of 2019, where they spent a full day at Méduse
Audio working on several hours of materiel ranging from heavy
slowbuilding metal to blissfully dreamy soundscapes. For the next year,
Quach worked on the material on his own, recording additional overdubs
to further shape up the tracks. In 2020, the duo finalized the mixes of
their double album during the pandemic lockdown, aptly titled "The
Singularity".
Later that year, Phase I of the record was released by Quebec
City-based indie label P572 as a deluxe limited edition vinyl LP which
gained critical acclaim and international recognition from magazines
such as Metal Hammer & Prog Magazine for their unique brand of
heavy motorik rhythms, prolonged drones and futuristic jams. Shortly
after their performance at the 37th edition of the world-renowned
Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV),
Phase II was released in June 2021.
On November 26th, The Singularity, Phase I & II will be re-issued
as a double CD by Thisquietarmy's long-time Belgian label Consouling
Sounds (Amenra, IIVII, etc.), as a double cassette by Away's long-time
US label Utech Records and will also be available on digital streaming
platforms for the first time.

The idea of Ex Mortis, or 'From Death', is inscribed on the lute used
to record this album, and refers to the renaissance of lute music as

With 'Organic
Creatures' Consouling Sounds releases both old and new experimental
classical music by Catalina Vicens, a native of Chile and now resident
in Basel, Switzerland.
Catalina started her international career at an early age. By age 20
she had already played in the main concert-halls of more than ten
countries in North and South America. Vicens combines a vibrant
international soloist and research career. Having specialized in
performing on antique keyboard instruments, she has been invited to
play on the oldest playable harpiscords.
Similarly, she was invited to play and study the Van Eyck organ, an
organ reconstructed based on the painting ¶he Ghent Altarpiece' by Jan
Van Eyck (1432). She composed and recorded old and new music for this
and several other organs. All of these combined can be discovered on
this double cd released for the occasion of the Van Eyck Year 2020.

call a debuting band - the title covers the album perfectly: a bleak
take on extreme metal music. But it never loses touch with the band

After the release of
the critically acclaimed De Doden Hebben het Goed, Wiegedood didnt
exactly lay low. Not only did the band tour Europe extensively, they
also got together to compose their follow-up album De Doden Hebben het
Goed II whilst being in the flow of playing together for numerous
nights in a row. The organic feeling of playing the music live
certainly found its way into the sound of the band. You can expect
everything that was brilliant about the debut album, but more concise,
compact, and precise. Over a relative short span of time, Wiegedood
certainly developed a sound of its own within the atmospheric black
metal lexicon. This sound is extended to the second installment of De
Doden Hebben het Goed, but with a fresh and urgent ferociousness added
to the mix. A monster album. And thats a promise. For fans of: Amenra,

WITXES - ORIENTS
ORIENTS is the third
long length record by Witxes (still pronounced "witches"), main vessel
for french artist Maxime Vavasseur (born 1985). Two years in the
making, Vavasseur admits it wasn't an easy one to work on, mostly
because it deals with "being stuck in the illusion of infinite
possibilities, with reality and virtuality becoming dangerously one".
Featuring horns by Krystian Sarrau (Dale Cooper Quartet) & Matthieu
Metzger (Killing Spree, Louis Sclavis Quintet, Marc Ducret, etc.) and
additional synthesizers and percussions by Fabien Mysak.

YODOK III - A DREAMER ASCENDS
YODOK III excels as
a live band. The strong reputation they
have is thanks to the sophisticated structure of their long live epics,
the intense dynamics and homogenous group sounds
they know to create on stage.
It is not a surprise that "A Dreamer Ascends" is only their 3rd album
after 7 years. This album was recorded in 2017, in the Ora Studio in
Trondheim, Norway. But to distil an album made up
of 3 hours of music is not an easy task. "A Dreamer Ascends"
is a super tightly clenched album in which their YODOK III's
organic sounds plays a central role. The album is not exactly a
long sophisticated composition of their live concerts, but as a
listener you receive an album that blossoms, with a raw edge,
but full off intensity, grainy sound layers and a pulsing rhythm.
