LAWA is the acronym
for the duo of Austrian soundtrack wizards Alain Leonard and Alex Wank.
Once again they are honouring the world of film music in their
idiosyncratic, very personal way. After their first Cineploit release,
"Omaggio a Lucio Fulci and Fabio Frizzi" (Exploit 02, 2012, Vinyl only)
and the follow up, "Omaggio a Riz Ortolani" (Exploit 06, 2015, Vinyl
only) LAWA now takes a ride through the furthest reaches of '70s and
'80s
French and Italian cinema. From Michel Colombier, Michel Legrand and
Jacques Revaux to Alessandro Alessandroni, Daniele Patucchi, Nico
Catanese and G & M de Angelis, every base is covered. And, of
course, not to forget the Master of them all: Ennio Morricone (RIP).

Prog doom drummer du
jour Andrew Prestidge branches out into the field of electronic music
with his solo synthesizer project MORLOCK!
After several years spent holding down the drum stool with legendary
doom metal acts Angel Witch, Electric Wizard and Warning - not to
mention the prog rock bands Zoltan, The Osiris Club and Suns Of The
Tundra - Andrew sat down with his keyboard collection, a 4-track
recorder and a selection of sonic screwdrivers to create a new kind of
music.
The space-rock jams contained on 'Ancient Paths' are influenced as much
by retro synth artists Kraftwerk, Heldon, Tubeway Army and OMD as they
are by the sci-fi soundtracks of John Carpenter and the folk-horror
that seeps into every corner of the British Isles.

album of cosmic explorations by synthesist and drummer Andrew Prestidge

fusion of post-punk, electro-pop, Moog drones and Italian prog
soundtracks. Blending melody and experimentation into a shifting
patchwork of retro-futuristic splendour, these
seemingly contradictory elements battle it out in a dream landscape of
the ancient and the alien.
The influences on the record are vast and varied. As a long-time fan of
electronic music, Andrew's compositions can invoke anyone from Tubeway
Army, the BBC Radiophonic
Workshop or John Carpenter to more abrasive acts such as Killing Joke,

also the man behind Cineploit recording artist Pan/Scan - discovers a
different course to take through the world of cinematic music. After
journeying through numerous genres on previous releases Sospetto's new
output branches out into virgin territory: melodic themes wrap the
listener in a web of sound, repetitive hypnotic rhythms lull you into a
somnambulant, mysterious state of mind. These eleven tracks tell the
story of the various levels of consciousness triggered by insomnia. We
accompany a young woman (singer Christine Marks, whose voice is the
main focus of the album) on her lustful and suffering journey, a story
that ends in the pyrrhic redemption of eternal sleep. In contrast to
earlier records there is little horror or Giallo-themed music.
Nevertheless, the typical Sospetto style can be heard in every moment.
Acoustic suspense for an existential drama. Romantic, eerie and
terrifying. Sospetto is beckoning you to the land of slumber... For

ZOLTAN - SIXTY MINUTE ZOOM (180 GR)
ZOLTAN return with
their second full-length album, following hot on the heels of the
"Tombs Of The Blind Dead" soundtrack EP on Rise Above Records. Sounding
more focused and confident than ever, the 5 tracks that make up "Sixty
Minute Zoom" are a continuation and improvement on previous Zoltan
releases. Identifying as "cyborg prog" and comparable to forebears
Goblin, Heldon and Zombi, Zoltan have succeeded in making a fictional
soundtrack for an uncertain age. Inspired by the dystopian sci-fi
writers Yevgeny Zamyatin and J.G. Ballard, the album creates a
foreboding atmosphere, intimating a near-future urban hell where
paranoia and violence are never far away. Pulsating sequencers, eerie
analog synths and a pounding rhythm section drive the music into realms
of retro-futurist dread, interspersed with brooding interludes that
take a pause for reflection without letting up on the intensity for a
minute.
